Dreamy Book Covers Tag

Welcome to my first instalment in Tag Tuesday. I’ve done a few bookish tags before but I’m keen to have a more regular series because they’re always fun to do and mix up the blog a little from just reviews. Even if you aren’t tagged I encourage you do check out both the tags and their creators because there’s always some fun to be had!

Up on the blog today is the ‘Dreamy Book Covers Tag’. This tag was created by the lovely Tiana @ The Book Raven. Tiana also created the stunning graphic for this tag.

“No Ideas But in Things” A book cover that perfectly expresses the novel inside it

I love this cover and I feel like it gets the vibe down pat. It’s got that art deco/1930s vibes of the world it’s set in. The adoring hands of the audience turning into the flames of revolution, the font.

Though both covers (this is the cover of the hardback) fit perfectly I had to go with this one in this case. It’s so on point.

“Dark and Lovely” A book cover that is so creepalicious you just want to eat it up

Beneath the Citadel

I am reading Beneath the Citadel at the moment and the cover is so creepy and perfect.

Skulls always somewhat unnerve me but I love how it looks here and the way the stair case spiralling down below it almost look like a tongue. Destiny Soria always has amazing covers for her books.

“Sugary Sweet” A cute cover that is so fluffy you want to give it a hug

Fence 4

I love this cover mainly because Bobby is on it and I LOVE BOBBY MY SMOL BOY *sobs*

“The Simple Aesthetic” A book cover that stuns with the most minimalistic of design

The cover of An Unkindness of Magicians is quite simple, certainly in terms of its colour scheme and I love it so much.

This book looks particularly stunning in its physical format because the title is raised. Its simple but spot on. The tree branches play a role in the book and the minimalist aesthetic is 👌

“Cover Envy” A book cover you wish you had on your shelves, but don’t yet

I don’t have this on my shelf yet because it’s not out until 2019 (whhhhhhyyyyyy) but I cannot wait until it is because I am in love. I actually missed the official cover reveal and happened upon it on twitter.

It just matches so perfectly with the cover of book one. These books deserve way more hype than they get and I can’t wait for Mahimata to join Markswoman on my bookshelves.

“Traveling Abroad” A beautiful book cover featuring a country outside of your own

The Uncrossing Cover

I had to do a bit of searching for this one because I mainly read fantasy so I don’t have many books with other countries on them but this one has America in the background!

I love this cover. And it’s also an amazing book if you’re looking for a beautiful romance with magical shenanigans.

“The Color Wheel” A cover that showcases one of your favorite colors

the bone witch

Gold and purple are two of my favourite colours so this cover is everything. The Bone Witch is particularly pretty in person because the gold is done in foil, so it stands out and is shiny!

This is sitting on my shelf and I can’t wait to get to it.

“Switching Gears” A cover change you absolutely adore

Wrath and the Dawn

I own The Wrath and the Dawn and The Rose and the Dagger in the original harcovers but I am so in love with the change they made for the paperbacks.

Shazi looks so beautiful and badass here and I love the font. I am always admiring these covers when I pass them in my local Dymocks.

“Oldie but Goodie” A favorite cover of your favorite classic

I don’t read a lot of classics the only ones I have are North and South and The Brothers Grimm fairytales.

I really enjoyed North and South though. I picked up a copy while I was in Germany for some train/plane reading and loved it. From memory I watched the 2004 tv series first. Both the leads in that are 😍

This isn’t the copy I own but I am in love with this cover!

“And the Winner is…” Which book cover meantioned above is your favorite?

This is so hard and I can’t narrow it down so I’m picking my top two. Amberlough because I would die for Aristide, Cyril and Cordelia and the covers and book itself are fucking amazing. Along with North and South because even though I only found that cover today I’m loving it.
