Lets jump right in!
What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading three books; Traitor’s Moon, The Lies of Locke Lamora and The Court of Miracles. Some solid old-school fantasy, a staple and an upcoming release that promises to be very good (I’ve only just started) 👀👀
What’s your favourite ‘can’t-leave-the-house’ activity?
Well, reading is the obvious one. That said I’ve still been working so really I’m actually reading less than usual because work is so busy.
Other than that, binging solid-escapism tv shows, such as The Untamed or most recently My Roommate Is A Detective!
A book you’ve been meaning to read forever?
Apart from all the books, ever – one of the top books on my ‘I really need to read this’ is The Poppy War by RF Kuang. I have been meaning/wanting to read this for so long, someone shame me.
An intimidating book on your tbr?
The Binding by Bridget Collins. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book but. But. I’ve also heard that it will destroy me so I am both very much looking forward to reading it and lowkey terrified to 😅
Top three priority books on your tbr?
Tough choice (and to be honest it constantly changes….that said Miserere by Teresa Frohock, The Wolf of Oren-Yaro by KS Villoso and Her Dark Vanessa. A varied mix of genres but all ones I am very much looking forward to reading.
Recommend a short book
The Monster of Elendhaven by Jennifer Giesbrecht, This is my favourite short story. It’s dark and twisted and a goddamn delight, clocking in at 160 pages. If you love villains you’ll love this. Fair warning though it’s not for the faint of heart.
Recommend a long book
Bloodsong by Anthony Ryan. It’s 745 pages of classic fantasy. I love Vaelin Al Sorna so much and I’ve actually been wanting to reread this series because I miss it. What I wouldn’t give to see it onscreen.
There’s also Mo Dao Zu Shi (The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) aka the novel that The Untamed is based on. Since it’s a web novel I don’t accurately know the page count but it’s 400k + in it’s word count, so an absolute chonker.
Something you’d love to do while stuck at home
Actually practise my German! I don’t want to lose my skills but always seem to lack the time or motivation to practise. I need to just make time but as I’m sure most of you know that’s easier said than done.
What do you plan on reading next?
I’m actually think of doing a reread of The City of Brass and The Kingdom of Copper books; both because book three will be out soon and because it was just announced that they’re being adapted into a tv series for Netflix!
I’m tagging Shan @ shanshelves, Jill @ jilljemmett and everyone else that would love to do the tag!
Until next time xx
